The Dogs

All farms need a resident Border Collie, this is Dollar, she is ready to help with chores, ride in the mule, go to town in the truck.... right up front in the passenger seat ... this dog knows how to travel in comfort, no back of the truck on a hot metal bed, but up front with the A/C in this valley heat.

and added another farm dog this year .... she is a Great Pyrenees named Bella.  This picture was taken when she was 9 weeks old.  She is now a lot bigger.
Me???? No, Not me ......... You dug the hole I just wanted to see why and where it is going ...............

Did  I mention Bella has gotten a lot bigger .......... she is still a puppy at 10 and a half months, what is the old saying "Let sleeping dogs Lie" ..................

  4. Oh my gosh -- how adorable!!! I have an Australian Shepherd who I just LOVE, but I had a Collie while growing up and he was one of the best dogs I've ever had. However, my Aussie has been pretty amazing...I just learned recently that they were bred by partly incorporating Collie and you can definitely see the resemblance. Anyway, I'll be back for some more reading! I love looking at your pictures too! So great to read and enjoy life with people who seem to enjoy similar things.

  5. Border Collies are a must for farms as they handle the livestock entertain the farmers!

    Dollar has beautiful markings.

  6. Love the markings on Dollar's face. Our dogs have always found us, we rarely get to choose; but if we ever do I think a border collie would be a great choice.

Kinda like her owner though, Pepper Nipper is a bit (hugely) spastic to say the least!

From the fidgety hills and hollers of the majestic Missouri Ponderosa, ya'll have yourselves a blessed and beautiful day now, ya hear!!! :o)

Anyway, just wanted you to know that it's not attaching elsewhere so I don't know what the devil went on. Hope your spam box is catching things, mine is hard at work! :-)

    Thanks for telling me.

  15. What's a homestead without a dog or two or three? Mine aren't worth much in homesteading but I love them just the same. Someday to have a farm dog... sigh

  16. OH, so that's the breed of dog our neighbours have....Bella is lovely.

Unfortunately the neighbours dog keeps getting out of the backyard, I have the feeling that the poor thing needs a larger place to run.

  19. Your fur babies are great! Your Bella with the mud on her face, I have so seen that exact face on my Keeper LOL... We had Boxers for the last 20 years, this is our first Great Pyrenees. Wonderful doggy for sure but totally nothing like a Boxer LOL. He thinks different, he acts different, he is different to train LOL. But he is soooooo wonderful! Keeper is now 12 months old and weighing in well over 100lbs. I am guessing 120lbs, will be taking him in to the Vet to get him weighed soon. He just keeps growing LOL...

  20. What happy pups! They look so content. We used to have an Australian cattle dog whose job it was to mind the kids and keep the family safe. He took it very seriously and was Employee of the Month every month. :o)

  23. I love your dogs, Samson looks like Bella with the dirty face frequently. He loves to explore all the holes around here. Great news about the donkey roping event being cancelled. Do you know if they are working on getting rid of these events for good? I used to be on their mailing list, but I didn't hear about this one.
