Power of the Internet

For everyone that has been following the Donkey Roping Event to be held in Van Horn Texas .......... the event has been CANCELED ..... Thanks to 7MSN Blog that brought this to everyone's attention and to all the Facebook and Blog people that signed the petition, sent emails to the Van Horn Chamber of Commerce and the Van Horn City Council this event WILL NOT be held this weekend.  I just received an email from the City Administrator.  Thanks to everyone that worked to prevent these donkeys from being subjected to cattle prods and roping and being called a sport.

  1. Wow! I had no idea that they were planning such a thing. I'm sorry I haven't been reading and following this situation. So glad you all got it stopped. Here they do donkey basketball, but no roping and prods.

  2. I'm from Texas and have been to a LOT of rodeos, etc., but I've never heard of this. It does sound terrible! As the commentator said above, I've seen the donkey basketball and such, but nothing that was anything above showing a donkey's true character, which is in itself a delight. There's no sense in roping a donkey. I don't get it.

  3. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. Had to come by for a visit. Being born and raised in Texas, I have NEVER heard of donkey ropings, especially using cattle prods. There certainly is no sport in that! I, like the others, have heard only of donkey basketball and it's a hoot!

Thank you for stopping by to visit me and Miss Twiggley, I hope you will come again soon. And thank you also for helping to put an end to the donkey ropings.

  5. Good for you! What a gawd-awful thing to do for entertainment's sake. Makes you want to take the organizers out for a little round-up roping even of their very own...
